Prop for There Was An Old Monster © 2009

Rebecca, Adrian and Ed Emberley

This book tells the age old story of one thing leading to another. In this case it’s a monster who has eaten a tick. In no time he eats some red ants, a lizard, a bat, a jackal, a bear and a lion. His judgement just isn’t the best. He finally lets out a roar and with that he’s dead. The artwork in this book is splendid, bursting with color and so is our prop. We’ve made you a monster with a clear belly so your audience can watch as he stuffs in one creature after another. In the end you place sickly green X’s over his eyes to show that he’s eaten his last meal.

The book jacket offers the publisher’s website where you can find the accompanying song for the children to sing along as this poor monster meets his demise. A grim, but fun case of over consumption.

Prop for Too Much Noise © 1967

by Ann McGovern

This classic book deals with an age-old human condition; a situation seems untenable until something worse happens leaving us with an appreciation for the "good-old-days". An elderly gentleman, Peter, thinks his house is too noisy and it takes adding a barnyard of beasts to his house for him to appreciate the "quiet noises" of the past. Our prop provides you with Peter, his house (complete with a squeaking floor, creaking bed, whistling tea kettle and leaves swishing outside) and the six animals. All pieces are made from Show-a-Tale fabric and abound with hand-painted details. Let this be a lesson in creative problem-solving!!

Prop for What Will Fat Cat Sit On?

© 2007

by Jan Thomas

The fat cat is going to sit somewhere and there is a lot of speculation about who will be flattened by him. The cow is quickly ruled out, the chicken suggests the pig but the cat offers up the dog. A mouse appears and he wisely suggests a comfy chair which pleases everyone. That trauma over, the cat turns his thoughts to lunch and the mouse looks like the likely main course.

We supply you with our own fabric versions of everyone involved, the fat cat, the cow, chicken, pig and dog. We supply the comfy chair and provide a convenient place for the mouse to hide behind the cushion, escaping his fate as the cat’s lunch.

Prop for Where There’s a Bear There’s Trouble © 2002

by Michael Catchpool

Bears are responsible for a lot of mischief in childrens books. This bear takes off acoss hill and dale following a bee, dreaming of honey. The bear doesn't let obstacles get in the way of his mission. Two geese follow along, assuming he must be after berries, then three mice  deduce that the group must be after some corn, so they join up. One lone bee suddenly grows into an entire swarm, which alarms the bear, who frightens the geese, who in turn scare the mice and all fall into a frightened heap, trying to escape. We supply the whole cast in our prop, all made of our brushed nylon fabric. Bear, dressed in overalls, the two excited geese, the three mice, stonewall, the briar bush, a bee hive and an angry swarm of bees.
